Platform Rules and Enforcement

1. Point of contact

2. The rules we enforce

We enforce the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Community Guidelines. We do not require members to follow rules that are not published here.

3. Reporting illegal content

Anyone — member or not — can report content, and you do not need an account to send a notice by email. Use the report link on any post, comment or chat message, or the general report form.

A good notice tells us the specific URL, the category of illegality, and why you say it is unlawful. You do not need to identify yourself, and reports made while signed in are shown to the moderator without your identity attached.

We aim to acknowledge within one business day and to decide within seven days, sooner where the content clearly endangers a person. For content that is clearly unlawful we act within hours.

4. Telling you why we acted

When we remove content, restrict a feature, or restrict an account, we record a reason and notify you in the platform and by email. The notification states what we did, the factual ground and the rule it was based on, whether automated tools were involved and if so how, and how to appeal.

5. Automated tools

We use a word and pattern filter to catch obvious prohibited material before it is posted, and to flag borderline content for human review. A filter match does not, by itself, restrict anyone’s account. Anything that lasts — a suspension, a removal that a member appeals, a ban — is decided or confirmed by a person. We do not make decisions with legal effect about you through automated processing alone.

6. Appeals

Every content removal and every account restriction can be appealed from Moderation history. Appeals are reviewed by a moderator who was not involved where we can arrange it, and we aim to answer within 14 days. If we uphold our decision we will say why specifically, not just that we reviewed it.

7. Abuse of the reporting system

Repeatedly filing reports you know to be unfounded, or filing bulk notices to suppress lawful criticism, may result in your reports being deprioritised or your account being restricted. We keep records of this so that the decision is reviewable.

8. Orders from authorities

We comply with lawful orders to remove content or to provide information, and we assess each order for legal validity. Unless we are prohibited from doing so, we tell the affected member that we received an order and what we did. We publish the number of orders we receive in our Transparency reporting.
